Ms. Alpana Killawala

Ms. Alpana retired from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in 2019 after a distinguished career spanning 26 years, during which she served as the head of communication policy. In this role, she worked closely with several RBI Governors, including Dr. Raghuram Rajan, Dr. Y. V. Reddy, Dr. Bimal Jalan, and Dr. C. Rangarajan. She played a pivotal role in expanding RBI’s communication activities and spearheading its financial inclusion and literacy initiatives. Her efforts included simplifying complex banking and central banking concepts through the publication of booklets illustrated with caricatures, launching multilingual public awareness campaigns, and setting up the RBI Museum to educate and engage the public on central banking. Her work effectively brought the Reserve Bank closer to the common person, fostering greater understanding and inclusivity in financial literacy.
